Posts Eligible for Mechanical Engineers - Combined Technical Services Examination (Diploma / ITI Level)

The Combined Technical Services Examination (Diploma / ITI Level) offers various opportunities for mechanical engineers. It's important to note that if a Diploma in a particular subject is the prescribed qualification, a degree in that subject will generally be considered a higher qualification, making degree holders eligible, with some specific exceptions.

Posts Eligible for Mechanical Engineers:

  • Junior Training Officer (Basic Designer and Virtual Verifier): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Mechanical Engineering Design and Drafting / Mechatronics are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Advanced Computer Numerical Control Machining Technician): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing / Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Mechatronics are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Engineering Drawing): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Engineering are eligible. The subject paper for this post covers "Engineering Drawing and Draughtsman (Mechanical and Civil)", and "Mechanical group (Grade I) trades" are listed as relevant.
  • Junior Training Officer (Fitter): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (In-Plant Logistics Assistant): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Industrial Robotics and Digital Manufacturing Technician): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing / Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Mechatronics / Robotics and Automation are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Machinist): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Workshop Calculation and Science): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Engineering are eligible. The subject paper for this post covers "Workshop Calculation Science", and "Engineering Trades" are listed as relevant.
  • Junior Training Officer (Mechanic Auto Body Repair): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Automobile are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Mechanic Two and Three Wheeler): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical (with specialization in Automobile) / Mechanical are eligible.

  • Junior Training Officer (Mechanic Motor Vehicle): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Automobile are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Manufacturing Process Control and Automation): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing / Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Mechatronics are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Technician): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Operator Advanced Machine Tool): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing / Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Mechatronics are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Pump Operator cum Mechanic): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Automobile are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Textile Mechatronics): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Textile Mechatronics / Textile Technology / Textile Processing / Textile Engineering are eligible. Mechanical engineers with a focus or specialization in Mechatronics might be considered eligible if their degree is deemed equivalent.
  • Junior Training Officer (Turner): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing are eligible.
  • Junior Training Officer (Welder): Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Mechatronics / Production / Manufacturing are eligible.
  • Junior Foreman (Factory): Candidates must possess a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. A Mechanical Engineering degree would be considered a higher qualification.

Important Exception for Junior Tradesman Posts:

It is explicitly stated that candidates who do not possess the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Certificate in specific trades are not eligible for the posts of Junior Tradesman, even if they hold a higher qualification. This applies to trades like Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Electrician, Welder, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, AC Mechanic, and Sheet Metal. Therefore, a mechanical engineering degree alone would not make one eligible for any of the Junior Tradesman positions without the required ITI certificate and apprenticeship.
